Converting your spa to a 220 volt installation should be done by a qualified electrician and done to code even if you don't pull a permit. A 230volt powered Hot Spring or Tiger River spa will heat about 8 degrees an hour (versus 2 degrees an hour) and the heater will stay on during the operation of the jet pump. Because all Hot Springs and Tiger River spas are so well insulated, typically there is not a need to convert them to 230volts. If your spa is used for entertaining with the jet pump running hours at a time, or your spa is located in a freezing and windy climate, then a 230 volt installation is preferred.
